MIST Dream Team 2025

As we embark on our 18th annual tournament, we are actively recruiting committed, passionate and driven youth to join the organizing team - also known as the Dream Team!

The Dream Team, a group of 50+ individuals, is the backbone and foundation of MIST. Coming together as volunteers from vast backgrounds. Each member contributes unique ideas, talents, and inspirations that make MIST a one-of-a-kind event. As an organization that strives for continual growth and improvement, we are currently seeking diverse perspectives and expertise that we believe you can bring to the table to make MIST 2025 the best one yet!

Dream Team Positions

Expand the sections below to see role responsibilities, key attributes, commitment level, and qualifications. Within each role, there are organizer roles as well chair roles with require leadership and/or managerial experience.

  • Duties

    • In charge of a certain amount of competitions

    • Recruit professionals in their respective field to judge specific competitions

    • Recruit moderators to facilitate competition

    • Train judges as well as ensure they understand the rulebook and MyMist ballots

    • In charge of MyMist ballots and ensuring judges complete them

    • During the tournament, ensure MyMist has the final scores for each competition

    • Act as a customer service representative when any competition-related issues arise with competitors, coaches, and judges

    Commitment Required

    • 2-3 hours/week and 4-5 hours/week closer to the tournament

    • Required to attend bi-weekly meetings

    Qualifications

    • Experience in problem-solving is an asset

  • Duties

    • Oversee the organization of engaging and meaningful workshops during the tournament

    • Have workshop ideas approved by the Nationals board

    • Create innovative and engaging workshops

    • Help create marketing materials to generate interest in the workshops before the tournament

    • Host workshops monthly leading up to the tournament

    Key Attributes

    • Resourceful in recruiting talent

    • Creative

    Commitment Required

    • 3-4 hours/week and about 5-6 hours/week closer to the tournament

    • Required to attend bi-weekly meetings

    Qualifications

    • Experience in organizing workshops

  • Duties

    • Establish contacts with schools, and ambassadors

    • Respond to emails from ambassadors and competitors

    • Act as a liaison between MIST and coaches

    • Main contact for coaches and teams during the days of MIST

    • Set up and track a spirit point tracker before and during the tournament

    • Make sure that all teams meet competitions requirements once registration closes

    Qualifications

    • Proficient in Excel

  • Duties

    • Find events where we can advertise MIST

    • Manage Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, Youtube, Tik Tok

    • Act as primary PR representative for MIST Toronto

    • Responsible for ensuring media presence before, during, and after the MIST Tournament

    • Advertise Spirit Competitions, along with Outreach, Registration, and Awards

    • Create a trailer for MIST

    Qualifications

    • Proficient in social media

  • Duties

    • Manage graphic design requirements from all members of the MIST team

    • Create a streamlined aesthetic for the current MIST year.

    • Create graphics for tournament weekend

    Qualifications

    • Graphic design experience

  • Duties

    • Create the materials for a new MIST package for new schools along with the graphic design team

    • Organize MIST Outreach school-visit events, where schools can sign up for a visit from a MIST Exec

    • Create streamlined presentations for MIST Outreach events

    • Recruit at least 10 brand new schools to MIST

    • Create a streamlined process for all Registration Organizers to use when establishing contacts with new schools

    • Use Spirit competitions as incentive to bring new schools in, along with marketing and registration

    • Create and implement a scholarship program to bring lower income students to the event

    Qualifications

    • Being able to drive, and access to a vehicle is important

  • Duties

    • Look for grants and scholarships for MIST to apply to over the course of the year

    • Look for potential sponsors and businesses to associate with

    • Maintain existing relationships with previous sponsors

    • Developing and maintaining relationships with businesses and organizations in the GTA

    • Communicating the benefits of a partnership with MIST Toronto to potential sponsors and donors

    • Experience in the field

  • Duties

    • Plan the Awards Ceremony for the MIST weekend

    • Order medals and trophies for awards

    • Spearhead all Spirit awards, and competitions

    • Ensure the slideshow is completed with Graphics team

    • Create a script and schedule

    • Organize and run a talent show over the course of MIST weekend

    Qualifications

  • Duties

    • Plan the Sister’s Sports Tournament for the MIST weekend

    • Assist in booking venues, and creating schedules for the games

    • Hire female referees (or act as referees) for tournament

    Commitment Required

    • 2-3 hours/week and 4-5 hours/week closer to the tournament

    • Required to attend bi-weekly meetings

    Qualifications

    • Event planning experience

  • Duties

    • Plan the Brother’s Sports Tournament for the MIST weekend

    • Assist in booking venues, and creating schedules for the games

    • Hire male referees (or act as referees) for tournament

    • 2-3 hours/week and 4-5 hours/week closer to the tournament

    • Required to attend bi-weekly meetings

    Qualifications

    • Event planning experience

  • Duties

    • Order food for the organizing team

    • Ensure we are meeting health and regulatory requirements

    • Reach out to potential stakeholders to secure the tournament and awards ceremony venues

    • Create and monitor the schedule and programming for the tournament weekend

    • Book venue rooms in accordance with competition needs

    • Manage and create volunteer schedules for tournament weekend

    • Handle potential venue and schedule issues during tournament weekend
